Yeah I haven't looked him really that much. I thought it was lower. This position is about the same as the one clip I have. I thought perhaps he was lower watching him on TV. My mistake.

I know Victor Martinez has a low elbow, from the clip I have. His pre swing actions don't start with the elbow low. But he does have the elbow positioned by toe touch.

JD Drew had a low elbow, I think.

They are few and far between at the ML level.

Using Mendoza as an example, there is nothing wrong with having the back elbow low. I always said it's easier to get the hips ahead of the hands with a higher back elbow. The basic question is you can potentially create greater force by applying it over a greater distance. As long as this doesn't take more time, or a significant greater time, in hitting. There is potential for greater force applied over a greater distance.

The bat is more cocked with hitters that have the back elbow up. When it starts down, you really shouldn't try to cock it as much. I'm sure you could find hitters that do, although it's not ideal.

Simply not an absolute.

After putting my foot in my mouth, I would have to see the swings of the hitters you mention. Now that I tried to find such hitters, it's not as simple as going on ones word. For example you mentioned Langenfeld, I don't remember her having a low elbow.

Not here.
Having the rear upper arm (humerus) parallel with the ground, or as some say ... the elbow up, is not an absolute.

I didn't say a low elbow, I said there wasn't an obsession with a high elbow. The diagram shown earlier (repeated below) with the upper rear arm (humerus) horizontal and parallel to the ground is not an absolute.
