I wanted to go back to the pre-loaded swing. Rythym and tempo is very important. You should always have rythym. If there was is one glaring thing between really good hitters and hitters still learning it would be rythym and tempo. Even good HS hitters stand there like a statue most of the time.

What is shifting then swinging? Are you talking about he is shifting his weight then swinging?
Yes, I want to see shift AND swing. Some say pivot AND Swing.
UNLESS you include the hands moving rearward as part of THE SWING.
Yes, that will 'allow' the hips to 'Pull' the hands.
Id like to see the hands moving forward a bit more
I picture a 'push swing'.
Not a fan of this. I'm more of a 'turn AND go' guy. Not a 'turn THEN go'.

Added:The 'turn the barrel to the ball' means to me turning the barrel forward towards the ball.

What are you calling shift I guess is my question...there at least a half dozen movements that could be considered as a shift. That's the variable that I am missing! What are you calling shift?

Shift/shifting of your weight from the rear leg to your lead leg.
My weight is on my rear leg, as I start swinging, my weight shifts to my lead leg at the time of contact." - Babe Ruth
Sorry to 'dig up' this gif as an example of:

Shift AND Swing......................................Shift THEN Swing

Babe Ruths lead foot is fully weighted before his barrel is unloaded. About an hour before contact.

why would you keep posting a fallacy?

That guys swing is not bad.

So Rdbass are you saying if the weight is transferred onto the front foot before contact, it is a shift then swing? a push?

Good question.

I guess the Babe is in on the fallacy also:
"Note that my weight is on my left foot (that would be his "rear leg" also). As I start swinging my weight shifts to my right foot (that would be his "lead leg") at the time of contact with the ball. The force of the swing makes a perfect follow through."

Swing update as we have been super busy - still working on her lower body firing first, but her swing continues to improve - was super late on this pitch..
