that fan needs a lot more tilt.

Imagine a "compound" fan. One that not only rotates, but has the ability to tilt at various levels.

The fan analogy is not correct. The core is actively used.

Depends how literal you want to be.... As a general comparison, I think it is ok. But there are obviously things lacking from the analogy as a whole. But that same statement can be made about most analogies.

FP26, the analogy as I understand it, is pretty bad.

You are probably talking about the analogy from its original source. In that regard, to each his own... But there are ways to utilize this type of analogy to get one's point across. Hitting is filled with examples of that, from numerous sources.

The core is a big part of the main engine of the swing ... it is not the case that the rear leg simply rotates a rigid/fixed core ... such a model, imo anyway, falls far short of reality.

Focus in on the two frames being toggled back-and-forth. To me, the collective action of the hips & core is the main engine of the swing. If you see this as the core being an oscillating fan, then so be it ... that isn't how I view it.

Bold above: On this we agree. I realize some look at it that way, but I am not one of them.
