I was watching the bats last night, that U of Az. and the pros were using. UofA had all Mizunos, I think.

The Pros had Mizuno mostly, but there were a few DeMarinis, a couple of Worths and one Synergy.

I thought that UofA had to use Nike.

Oh, and the bats appeared to be 34 inches and some might have been slow pitch bats.

I don't think there is a governing body with rules for the bats the pro's use (or international, for that matter). I'm sure a lot of them use slow pitch bats, they're better because they're not performance limited. A lot of the Mizuno's you saw were probably either older, pre limited bats, or slowpitch with a few new models thrown in. I'd be surprised that any Olympic or former Olympic player would use an Easton product after old Jimbo screwed the pooch for sofball by abstaining his vote on the IOC.

I think that universities have contracts season to season that specify what bats they can use. The Nike's aren't the greatest bats, but their contract stated they had to play all of their regular season and post season games with them. I imagine that these "extra" games aren't part of that contract, and UofA may very well have a new contract for next year with a different company (like Mizuno). Doesn't Finch use a really old Mizuno Frenzy?

Anyway, good observations Amy and thanks for pointing it out.
