We're still waiting to hear back about the first try-out - the HC said they would hopefully have something this week...
But in the meantime, DD did go to an open workout for a 14A team. She was extremely nervous because while she did know one girl on the team, they really don't talk much. The girl and her used to compete a lot for their position. They both alternated SS/C in MS and All-Star teams. And the other girl she knows on the team showed up right as it was ending. She did well but we kind of expected more at an "A" practice. HC said he really liked her and was impressed by her hustle - he told me he didn't even realize she was an 05 and not an 04. He offered her a position in OF (since he said he really needed help there) with time at SS when their primary wasn't playing there and possible catching time as they already had a couple of catchers (his daughter being one of them).
I don't think we'll take it even though it would give her a good chance for more competitive play - it was nice for it to be an open workout since she got to meet the rest of the team - and she wasn't really sure about them. She said some were nice but they seemed to talk about boys a lot in the dugout
