She has a great understanding of her strike zone. During TB she only struck out 6 times at 14A in spring and 2 times this fall in 16s. HS ball was a different story she had probally twice as many Ks but to her defense she had never seen a 65mph rise ball. Darn those future D1 pitchers.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to watch your child play in a sporting event. On the typical trip my daughter has been on in HS its 4 players to a room and the coach has decided who stays with who. On these trips my dd has never been alone with a coach. Now these rooms are mostly...
My daughter was a freshman on varsity last season. During spring break her HS team went to a 2 day tournament a couple hundred miles away from home. My wife and I went also but stayed at a seperate hotel. About 80% of the the other varsity parents went also. It was a great time to get to know...
If you want to remain competitive during the games don't do "radical" changes. I would advise only switching 2 or at the max 3 players per game. Having regulars in other posistions will help those players trying as new posistion out.
What do you look for in a 8u player? GOOD PARENTS. This is the key. Parents can make or break a team. I have seen stud girls at the 8u/10u level never get any better and girls who couldn't throw the ball across the diamond become A level catchers. Good kids and good parents are the key.
I believe at the 12u level this amount of discipline is excessive. As a AC on a 14u TB team I would have no problem talking HC about this punishment BUT the thing is our HC would have consulted the staff before making this big of a decision. After the fact all you can do is support the call.
Its the official scorers book from mlb. I figured it would be the same but I will look to see if I can find a difference in softball. Link Official Rules | MLB.com: Official info
I love it when you can hear opposing coaches make dumb defensive calls to the defense. A couple of tournaments the opposing coach yells to his defense "she's a pull hitter" and shifts his outfield to the left. My RH dd gets up and laces a triple to right. The main thing my dd does well is use...
Error. Official definition "If a throw is low, wide or high, or strikes the ground, and a runner reaches base who otherwise would have been put out by such throw, the official scorer shall charge the player making the throw with an error."
I was wondering who sanctioned this tournament? I have never heard of rules stating you cant have a pitch break inside on a batter or that a catcher is setting up to far inside. The only rule I know is that a catcher must be in athe catchers box until the ball is thrown.
I coach a 14A TB team and until we hit qualifiers we will hit 11. Our mindset is that it will only allow the girls who may be sitting to get better. Our team has placed in the top 4 of every tournament they played this year but we havent won one yet. Is it because we bat 11? Maybe, but what...
The Dp/flex rule is something you must study and is a wonderful tool for long tournaments. If used properly it can give rest to players without burning subs.
For this to work in means you have to have a runner on first all day and your "speed girls" up at that time. Catcher only covers 3b with a runner on 1st. Our 3b is very good and seldomly allows a bunter on base.
Runners on 2nd and 3rd. Batter hits a pop up which is caught. Throw is made from infield to 3b to double up runner but ball sails out of play. ASA rule states runners advance 2 bases on ball out of play but runner at 2nd had not tagged back up. Is runner at 2nd advanced home?
