We hit in cages all the time with composite bats and never broken one. If the bat is old and the composite is broken down, there might be more of an issue. Most of the cages we hit at the balls are softer than regular softballs. Just be sure to rotate the bat, you will be fine.
Those are ok masks but I prefer the full helmet in case of a turned head. Like a lacrosse helmet or hockey mask.
