Thanks to All for your guidance

I've been away for some time now but have not forgotten where it started. We owe you all so much for having this site available to those of us who did not have access to quality advise in the beginning. I don't know where my daughter would be right now if I had not stumbled across this site...

    New can of Worms

DD has been pitching just over 5 years and has just figured out that by squeezing the ball harder, she is able generate much better spin rates as well as control. I only bring this up because up until now she has thought that she was supposed to just barely hold the ball. There were times when...

    Towel / Rag

DD started to use Gorilla Grip this year, loves it. Yesterday she was told by blue that she could not have it sticking out of her shorts (no pockets) because apposing coach thought it was a distraction. She had it tucked into the back of her shorts. This was ASA and I have never heard anything...

    Wild pitch vs. passed ball

I have a question about what defines a wild pitch vs. a passed ball. I'm going assume that a called strike should go without saying. I'm pushing the envelope when I say swinging strike but this is 14U so I would feel pretty safe. I'm really interested in knowing about C/U and drop balls that...

    Bat size

DD is quickly outgrowing her CF5 Insane 34" 24 -10 My question is, should I drop her down -8 or would that be to much of a drop. Just don't know how much differnce there is with the end weighted CF5

    "The Pitches" reviews

My copy of Bill's latest DVD "The Pitches" came on Christmas eve. I think Bill has outdone himself with this one, it is buy far his best work yet. Simple, straight forward and easy to understand. Great job Bill and thanks

    Bullet spin

DDs new team has 2 other pitchers which throw a very predictable bullet spin fastball. There is no movement what so ever and at 14U, level this is going to spell trouble. They throw hard and have been able to get by with speed up till now but I think those days are going to come to a quick end...

Hiilhouse clinic in Greendale Wisconsin Oct. 12, 13, 14

This may not be the proper venue for this post so please try to be forgiving. We are hosting a clinic is southeastern Wisconsin with Bill Hillhouse and want to try and reach as many people as possible. Please check his web site if this is something that might be of interest to you...

    Timing issue

I would like to know if anyone can help me correct a timing issue. DDs arm is not far enough in the circle at toe touch, photos show that it is about 1:00. Recently She has begun to notice ( the last couple days) that if she can get her arm further along, she can get much better whip. Her top...

    Heavy drag foot

I'm looking for a way to lighten up DD's drag foot. She starts on the side of the big toe and then the foot lie on its side. Her drag has always seemed a bit lazy and heavy to me and when she starts to get tied it hangs back. Is there some type of drill to work on this.

    Finch's Last Series

As a field trip of sorts we took the girls to see the Bandits and Jenny Finch last weekend. What a day it turned out to be. We arrived early to see batting practice in which all of the girls were able to collect a balls that were hit out including several by Finch. We were also able to see...

10u pitcher after 10 months of pitching advice needed please

This is my DD Maddie. She started pitching last June and although we live in Wisconsin we have been working pretty hard all winter on mechanics. We have been working with one of the coaches on the natinal registry and she seems to be doing fairly good in my eyes but I'm no expert. I think she is...

    Reverse Posture

I'll looking for advice on getting better reverse posture. DD just turned 11 and has been pitching 9 months. She is standing up tall but does not seem to have much reverse posture. She finishes everything on one foot (figure 4) so I know her balance is pretty good as well. She is 5' 1" and her...
