    Pro Glide?

I like them. They are expensive but well made. They give two kinds of feed back. Sound like a click bat and ball flight path like a chuck-it. The wiffle balls it uses won't break a window like a tennis ball from a chuck-it. Just sayin.

"How Fast Should a Fastball be?"

Had a upper tier D-1 coach share her pitch tracking spread sheet. She uses for tracking pitches in practice and games had NO "fastball". I asked her about it and she said ever pitch needs some movement at her level.

To mask or not to mask...

8U Rec All-stars played tonight (not A travel) girl in circle on other team takes a line drive to the face. She said "that was cool" as she picked her mask up off the ground. She would not be saying anything or playing the rest of the game if she had not been wearing a mask when the ball hit...

Oklahoma is killing me in the 4th inning

I am glad I am not the only one whos dish went out. ESPN 3 saved the day! I recently changed internet providers just so i could get it. It is a real shame that rain played a factor. But at the same time I don't think that OU's coach handled the situation. I guess that was stating the obvious.

Oregon - Tennessee ball thrown at runner

Is this a technique that is being used by fielders to turn a double play? Yes in dodgeball!! Cant be the right call or it would be open season on runners. Tag the bag and hit the runner with the ball is much easier than a bang bang double.

    Pitching speeds?

Balls that move... Went to a coaching clinic this year where several D-1 tournament coaches were speaking. One of the coaches showed the spread sheet that she uses to track every pitch. Fastball was NOT even on the list of pitches to be tracked. I asked the coach about the lack of a "fastball"...

    LA LaFayete- Split Grip

I've been told by good hitting coaches it is like every thing else it creates trade offs. You GET great push with the top hand into the zone but you LOSE extension thought the zone. You hear "Short to the ball long through the ball" you get GREAT "short to" but difficulty with the "long through".

    Florida suspends 3 players.

I was invited to watch Fla workout and practice before the SEC tournament. Discussed Fagan sisters with one of the coaches and there is a third sister that is going to University of South Alabama.

    Back foot in the air

SEC D1 hitting coach asked me if i would believe that Barry Bonds could hit a home run with both feet off the ground. I said no. Then he showed me the slow motion video of several Bonds swings where at contact both his feet were in the air. This was Bonds Light not Bonds Supreme.

    Outfield Fence distance

What is wrong with a home run? Girls are getting better training sooner and they moved the pitchers back and now it is a hitters game. What is wrong with that? bats might be better but not as hot as a few years ago. they tuned down the bats from 100mph to 98mph a few years ago. what more do you...

    Strikes or Pitches

Got a 8u TB DD that pitches 9-10 rec ball as the #1 pitcher. My question is about long term coaching philosophy. Her and the catcher call the pitches. She will shake off pitches she does not want to throw. She has a good little fast ball a spotty change up and a peel drop (that does not really...
