I use a Jugs popup somewhere around the pitching rubber or sometimes between the rubber and second base. I then have my son and daughter try to hit line drives into it.

Use or mis-use of the tee could be a thread by itself.
Hitting into a net placed 5 or so feet in front of a batter is nothing more than exercise, for the most part.

FFS, attacking Howard on this site really doesn't win you any friends. Most are aware of how many college softball players he has produced. More than I can count. No my source is not Howard, but others on here that know the truth. Don't forget I have honored your request to not post who you are on this site. So lets drop the personnel attack stuff. Jim has sent me some very good information and he has told us who he is and what he does for a living. I don't work with baseball players so I trust his opinion. I have been to more college camps and clinics with former theam team USA players and coaches than I can count. I do it to increase my knowledge about the game and to become a better coach and teacher. I think that is why most of us are on here, not to impress others on how good we can set at work and post videos off the internet.

SBF - All FFS was trying to illustrate was that there are many softball/baseball programs and hitting instructors who advocate "front toss" as another drill that can be incorporated into a players hitting regimen. For example, I have witnessed in person the UCLA players taking batting practice numerous times using among other things, front toss, to work on swing mechanics and their timing. My DD has been fortunate enough to use these same facilities and one of her intructors is a former player of their program and they incorporate front toss into every one of her hitting lessons. I have had an open mind with this hitting drill and have even used it with my team with very good success. Instead of dismissing front toss as useless, try to educate yourself and determine if it makes sense for your players. The way I look at it is it's just another hitting drill to help your players become better at the plate.
Point out where I posted it was useless. I just stated we don't use it for hitting lessons. Do I use it for battting practice , Yes.

I dont think it matters if you use front toss , side toss , tee work or whatever as long as you are teaching your hitters things that will give them a better chance to succeed. Therevare many theories on hitting out there , there are tons of video clips of various hitters. The key is figuing out to apply whatever you see/believe to your particular hitters. For me , I come to this site to come up with new ideas on how to communicate with and Teach my hitters in a way that they can understand

You can call "front toss" just batting practice, but I work on player's swing mechanics during this drill and idealy you have an additional coach near the plate to also work with the batter. So in my mind, front toss and instruction, go hand in hand. If you are working on hitting you are also working on mechanics.
