If you were to ask for what player I tried to model my dd and my players after it would be Albert Pujols. For what I teach, I don't see Griffy getting the coil on his back inner thigh that I coach which also means that I don't see that pressure in that thigh and back knee. I also don't see Griffy getting his front hip "in the way to get it out of the way." Though it is slight, it is important for what I coach. From there, I believe in things like X-stretch. Back in the day, they talked about the Seprape Effect where the front hip is tied to the back shoulder.

Finally, I believe that "pulling the bow back" is a subtle move while the hitter "tips and rips." Griffy goes back farther with this action than I would like. I am not a fan of his swing but who am I. He is in the Hall of Fame, I might get to visit it if I am lucky.

Griffey started more closed and a bit counter rotated w the upper as well. Might be why you don’t see the same things AP does/did. Think it had the same outcome. I see great ‘pulse/resistance from the upper torso like you mentioned before as well.

I'm not interested in going down this rabbit hole of a conversation. However, my little league coach in 1980 used this exact talking point.

The premise is correct, everything sets up the hands. You are coiled and stretched and ready to swing. The hands command the body as it is ready to burst because the body is ready for the hands.

Switching from a momentum powered swing to a fully fused torso swing is and feels different. Until you snap and experienced that barrel fly at lightening speed around your HPP beyond anything you’ve physically felt before, you will argue about one leg or two, core usage and it’s not what MLB does or doesn’t do. Blah Blah Blah old and boring at best. I couldn’t care less about all of that and you shouldn’t either. It’s about your daughter or students getting to their best , in order for them to get better , we must get better. The HLP mechanics is better than weight the front foot flex the core and push the knob forward and let momentum TTB. You , that argue against it, don’t know it , period…. The number one rule of HLP is get off the keyboard or couch and swing a bat. I’m the most non athletic person but I can feel what 1% of getting it right feels like. Richard didn’t create this swing , just like DNA it’s always been in you before the scientist identified it. He just identified the DNA of the very best swing.

The drills are EXAGGERATED FEELS. Exaggerate the tilt, exaggerate the front elbow working up, exaggerate the coil, exaggerate the rear leg anchored, exaggerate turning the knob up. Each player will make it their own.
