Here is a live example of Haley TTB

That’s a very dynamic and stretched out swing Mike. I can see why the barrel needs to get perpendicular ASAP now. Do you think it’s a bit long? All in the name of power? Does she adjust well? Or is it tougher? Do you see that much separation between bat and upper body during launch in good examples? Reminds me of Brookes swing but w better front side leverage. It is very aesthetically pleasing. But seems to be very high maintenance. Is that accurate? Personally think that teaching power moves is a no no. In my experience it just makes things longer.

My questions are serious and aren’t intended to bash.

I think folks fall in love w how the swing looks especially w ‘depth’ aesthetically. When imo it’s found through timing and a short launch not body depth. I’m more about making sure you can get the barrel to the ball the quickest you can while being able to adjust to multiple pitches and speeds if needed. Power will be there when the timing is really good, on the early side. Usually bc of a leveraged count or situation.

Every kid in D1 softball can put it over w the hot bats and the short fences. So I don’t see the need for ‘power’ mechanics. Hits keep you in the line up, periodic HRs make you a pinch hitter. Unfortunately you don’t need to have that much adjustability until you get older and the pitching makes a big jump from 18s to college. That’s where I’ve seen girls fall off. Just bc the swing is too long mostly bc of how they launch their swings.

Just my opinions.

She still learning to hit with these mechanics . As far as adjustability she’s able to hit the ball harder in bigger zones. Replacing the arms with the hands and shoulder angle is not an easy progression. Haleys improving at letting the ball get in to her hitting zone. The goal has always been hard line drives over the 2nd basemen‘s head. If, it carried the fence , a happy accident.
