Here are two swings against the same pitcher. Notice when she loads. Notice when she gets forward. Then notice when she puts her front foot down. Ones a double. The other is a HR. I think this type of loading, timing wise should be prevalent in softball. There is less reaction time if everything is relative. Not saying you can’t leg kick. Just more to manage.

Ok, not trying to be dense, but i'm not following how this answers what you mean, by: "I want to back the ball up w timing not the body"

Not dense. Good question. If you load slow and early you are waiting for the ball. If you load as late as possible you are not waiting you are reacting. Does that make sense?

If you decided to TTB perpendicular to the forearm, here are the drills I found useful in 1. Getting the feeling of swinging perpendicular 2. Transitioning that swing in to your actual swing to hit the ball.

Helicopter drill

one hand drill for example only not my student

Snaps with forearm trainer

Ok, to me both would be reacting. Read and React

The body can only balance so long FYB. So the alternative, stay back and filet everything oppo. We both know Leveraging late is death. The alternative; Be early, how do you cover off speed and outside breaking stuff? Watch the best. They get forward as late as possible w short swing intentions and adjust out front a bit w a short swing that gets a bit longer, by choice. They never lose their center. Look at the Tewks video I posted in Balance and timing. Make sense?

Edit: prolly should take this convo to that thread CL.
