All High School Coaches Are Bad

Not all high school coaches are old gym teachers who do it just for the money. Some are just old gym teachers and some just do it for the money.

What if I am not an old gym teacher but rather an old history teacher? What if I now volunteer but when I did get paid, I put most of the money I made back into the program by buying hitting cages, turf hitting mats, pitching mounds (baseball), ... The fact is that minds on this subject are already made up. Most of the time XXXXXXXXX I almost went there. LOL Hey from an old worn-out, has-been who never was coach, you all have a great day.

Now will I go start a new topic about how all parents aren't that terrible or will I accept that there is some nuance to be accounted for in your statement? Lol.....


These HS coaches sure are defensive.

What did you expect? Many like me are Type A personalities. Did you really think someone like me would jump on here and say that you are correct and we all suck? LOL

A lot of people on here like to give it but when they get it back they cry foul..Just the way it is. You have been on boards for long enough to know that...I was on the usenet newsgroups as far back as 1999..those were way worse.

...Generally people like to point a finger at somebody. In a lot of cases people think in h.s. the coach has total Authority/control,

Sports parents bitch about everything. Any time you see a group of parents huddled together at a tournament, away from the coach, there is a good chance they are complaining about something. However in travel sports before they bitch publicly, eg here, they move teams which isn't usually an option in HS...

Well the head coach is where the buck stops so yes generally that is who is to blame. What scenario(s) are you talking about?

Then I thought about a book club and people sitting around after reading a book and bitching at each other about it

LOL imagine...
read that entire book and it was terrible. the ending terrible. can't believe I wasted my time reading such a lousy book.
after the first chapter it was bad enough then I read the second chapter and the third chapter and it got worse.
but I was forced to read the entire book because I wouldn't set the book down.
Couldnt set it down because had to get to the end of the book just to find out if it got better. then the ending was terrible. wow what a bad experience.

Definitely do not think High School coaches have all authority and control of what happens on their high school teams. absolutely not.

If anything parents complaining hold the puppeteer string.

Coach may make decisions for a pratice/games but they are influenced by other pressures like the principal, the athletic director and the parents most coaches in high school imo are between a rock and a hard place.

High turnover rate of High School coaches is not happening because they are comfortable and cozy with support around them.
