I believe that the interference didn't occur until the runner stopped and and jumped. She was clearly past the ball when that happened.

What is also interesting is that she left early from second.

Here's the clip.

Had to laugh at this description of the play from an avid ASU fan:
"Kaylyn Castillo, the catcher, delivered the biggest hit of her life up the middle, with Boyd doing an impressive dance to distract Texas A&M shortstop Brittany Walker just long enough to let it slip through the infield."

The shortstop had a line to the ball that would have taken her through the runner. She takes that line and Texas gets the call and it's game over. Ump blew the call on leaving early though.

I thought this comment I read was interesting as well.

I came back home and rewatched the play online. Jo Evans went out to the umpire who made the call. After her discussion with him, she asked her shortstop, "Did you touch her?" When her shortstop said no, she turned around and went back to the dugout. If the shortstop takes a half step forward, Boyd couldn't have avoided her.

Upsets in Supers -

Appears if that is correct that the coach knew she had nothing to complain about if there was no contact.

So, the pitcher:

1) Walks a batter.
2) Throws a wild pitch.
3) Intentionally walks a batter.
4) Hits a batter with a pitch.

TAMU had at least three chances to win the game before this play and but didn't.

I have watched this play about 25 times now. I think the right decision was made. Tough call , but without any contact and it didnt look like the runner did anything intentional to infere , I believe it was just a "play on"

My adult nephew was sitting with the SS's dad at the game. I am 100% certain it was interference. I didn't talk to my nephew, though. I just thought that was an interesting bit of info. I will probably find out what Walker's dad thought at some point, but.....

Let's see if T A+M, can bounce back. (I am an ASU fan, but I also want fair games.)

All true. But, considering who they were playing the TAMU pitcher pitched a fantastic game.

SoftSocDad,

I have no idea which ump was responsible. She clearly left early though.
