I think looking at barrel path is an excellent tool to analyze a swing. For example we can easily look at a swing and say too much loop ot too steep and know we have things to work on. It's also useful to show the hitter as well so they understand what the goal is. I also think barrel path is a non teach, barrel path is the result of upstream mechanics. Work on sequence, posture, learn how the core leverages the legs... those would be my building blocks. From there you can learn efficient hand path demonstrated by the pros.

I believe @FP26 said a few days ago, he's seen good hand path with less than idea barrel path. That's generally because the hitter as either loss control of the barrel or bad sequence. In the pros demos they teach us how to control the barrel so that doesn't happen.

tewks. cabrera.

move from the middle.
So, to me, the swing on the left looks more "down to". But I'm sure that isn't the "down to" you guys are referring to, and I am not claiming that it is. But can you see how someone would think it is? IMO the swing on the left looks much closer to the pros demos. Sorry, just being honest. The swing on the right looks more "direct" to me. JMO...

We've already established that barrel path in the pro demos(where they isolate hands) will not represent barrel path in a game swing because of the missing ingredients. Every time it keeps circling back to this. Can we all agree on this and leave it behind us?

JD's swing on the left is ABAF and lacking posture, two of the ingredients missing in a pros down to demo

Sorry. Just stating what I see and why I think it can be misleading if not explained properly. I would be glad to drop it if you and the others will stop doing the same with the phrases that myself, Mud, and others use. Do you think that's possible?

It can be misleading, but has it not been explained on this forum repeatedly? I consider you a knowledgeable person, it should no longer be a puzzle for you. I'm now finding that the pros are not the ones misleading on this forum, instead it's ones that say "that's not the same barrel path as we see in a game". That is misleading, because 90% of people involved in this discussion understand that the pros are isolating hands in their demos, that's what they chose to talk about and demo, we all know there are missing pieces in the demo, but still we get comments about how the barrel path doesn't match which causes some people to miss a very good point they are making. The pros talk about and isolate the hands for a reason.

Seriously, you have not seen other posters on here make inaccurate and misleading posts about phrases that I promote? If so, then you are only seeing what you want to see. I am not trying to mislead anyone. I am simply stating what I see. But this is a two way street. Based on what you are saying, you expect me to just agree with everything you and others say, but yet allow them to misquote me at every turn. Seriously, that is what you are asking me to do.

Do the pros ever give this explanation? Lauren Chamberlain doesn't say that in that "demo" she does. She says that's how she swings in games. Chopping down on the ball to impart backspin. It's perfectly clear. Nothing about isolating hand path.

Most of these clips are .gifs so there is no commentary so maybe they do explain it in more detail and I just haven't seen it.

I can't speak for other people. You don't have to agree with anything I say LOL. I will do my best not to misquote you, that's never my intention, but I am sure sometimes I get it wrong.

I was just pointing out, that IF the middle moves you, the barrel path will take care of itself. Tewks was the left side, abaf. Cabrera was the right side, core driven In comparison to TDS post earlier.. that will determine if the path will be too steep for the most part.
