Nah, Manny has great adjustability. Most MLBers do. During rotation, I’ve got a couple players that leak forward with the upper body causing them to have to time it up perfectly out in front of them to hit it hard. When you don’t rotate on axis the hands will push some and the barrel will enter the zone later.
I'm sorry CB, if that's not a chase, then I don't know what is. Yes, Manny adjusts, but he's still chasing, fooled on that pitch, lunging, his body is way out of position in order to get the barrel on that ball. JMHO.

My daughter (10u) has a habit of swinging early, hitting the ball off the end of the bat. Her coach has used "Let it get deep" as a cue to her to wait just a bit longer before swinging. I'm sure it means different things to different people.
Yes my DD had the same issue.. and her coach told her the same thing.. however her issue was bat path with resulted in a sharp left hand turn(she was a righty), instead of staying long through the ball. It sure looked like her timing was off, but it wasn't.

Watch his head in the gif. It moves forward slightly, then as rotation occurs it doesn’t move forward anymore. He’s not lunging or chasing with the upper body. He’s attempting to do everything he can to resist letting his hands go. He is still rotating on axis somewhat.

She has hit a lot of balls here. If let it get deeper is wrong to say? What would be a better approach? Yes, thanks for starting this Thread J.
She looks great. I suggest waiting to see if there are some pitches the are beating her and look for adjustments then.

What do you consider to be the correct axis of rotation during the swing? What do you think Manny is doing that is different to what your players are doing to allow him to maintain his power? When you say leaking forward are you referring to rotational movement or linear movement?

So you believe that this is the position that Manny get's to all the time when hitting a pitch in that location.. that's this is his intended position to be in when hitting this pitch location? IMO, Manny's timing is way off here, he's definitely reaching, he should certainly be letting it get deeper here.

Do you want her to have a deeper contact point than she has in this picture? If so, why? Will that offer an advantage? What actions are causing her to strike the ball further out front in your opinion?

The cue let it go deep.
Could be same as saying
Swinging too soon.
People identify with words or use words differently.

Someone swinging late could
use words
Hit it out front
Or
Swing sooner.

As far as where batters want to hit the ball...
Can contact the pitch out front to deeper.
However
There is no need to let the pitch travel deep.

Cutting off curve balls out front
will utilize MORE of the field.

Realizing batters have different swing mechanics.
Can recognize why there may be a difference to where some batters make contact.
Wether they want to or not.

Mechanics can make the commitment by having greater coverage thru the zone.
Or Less with those with limited approach or adjustment.
Less coverage thru zone.

The swing should rotate around the head and spine Stride is linear, swing is rotational. Manny is not finishing his swing with his COM over his front knee. Got a couple players that will continue forward, linearly, during rotation and end up with COM over front knee at contact.

Appreciate the help and kind words of encouragement. Adjustability is what we’re after. I agree telling a hitter to let it get deep can be taken many different ways. Trying to hit the ball between 5-6
