Well bring it forward then and knock it off with the Socrates act...

Socrates? I just thought you’d want to discuss this, seeing how this is what ails your student. I wanted to get your opinion on why a reach works for Yelich. That was all. Maybe an analysis of his swing or a ‘why’ he can stay in dynamic balance for so long or longer than most, while doing it with a ‘reach’. Others I’m sure were curious as well?

I tried last week, on your thread. I tried again this week on this thread. I guess I’ll try again next week on another thread.

If you think you know the answer to the above questions then give it..either in my thread, this thread or any other thread..that is my point.

Seeing how you have given the answer to other posters on different threads. I thought you would have the analysis on the tip of your cap.

and the answer was given in your post #11. However to say hold your coil or FBC (or to use your core to move out) is great but reaching is an (active) action that gets rid of that coil. If a kid is conditioned to actively reach to the extent as she is (or Marcela) as their first move out then just telling them to hold their coil isn't going to work most of the time. Yelich's "reach" is not nearly as bad as this girl's or Marcela's and hence he is still able to maintain coil (and posture) throughout the move out. The feeling they have to learn is to get the mass moving forward without thinking about doing anything with the front leg initially. Whether that results in what Yelich is doing or others who have less of a "reach" is inconsequential as long as it allows them to get into a good hitting position at launch.

100% agree with this.

The ‘reach’ is not active but conditioned to balance. Hence the ‘reach’. Yelichs ‘reach’ is done in balance so his reach is for leverage. Not balance.

One must maintain balance within all three planes of motion if one wants to hit from a balanced hitting position.

The doesnt make sense to me. Yelich is still reaching (active) to gain balance. and seems to me he uses reach to gain ground off of the rear leg. Just imo.

What is your definition of balance? From earlier posts 50/50 correct? That is not what I am speaking of. That is the result of this>>>>. I am speaking of dynamic balance(one foot off the ground).

You don’t start balanced, lose balance and regain it later on in the sequence. Balance is maintained throughout the entire sequence.

The issue with this stuff is there are many ways to go about it.

Ps. Yelich is balanced throughout his entire sequence.

Took the tips, did some work. It is like eating an elephant though. One bite at a time.

Still seeing her back toe leak out to duck status. Corrected in the beginning but it worked its way out. Means the load is working right by pulling the front toes back but got to keep them straight so as not to the lose the energy generated. Tee may have been a bit inside, I see her adjusting her front arm down a bit more to stay inside.

Really tried working on the downward shoulder angle at load and into the move out. Worked on gaining some ground on the move out while still maintaining balance and weight in the rear leg.
