Just for feel and understanding, as you teach mechanics later, I would go with slightly bigger stride not really big maybe a one foot stride.
Guys, She is really narrow with her feet as she swings. Should I go with a bigger stride or just widen the base?
As Eric said you want to move the center away/out from the back foot.
Or do we want to go no-stride and widen the base?
If you can teach her to stride and separate, that would be good. Get the sequence in place.
Get the "center" (the primary driver) of her swing in her rear hip and upper thigh. What happens at the foot should be a reaction to what it happening above it, not the other way around, as it is now.
Yes gotcha. I need to show her my guy walking with no legs/arms again. Get the idea of spine/torso engine.
IMO, that's something that an 8yo is going to have a hard time understanding how to relate to her swing.
Don't show a 8 yo that video. There has to be a better way to explain torso engine.Yes gotcha. I need to show her my guy walking with no legs/arms again. Get the idea of spine/torso engine.
The Happy Gilmore drill might help.
