A great series of games regardless of the bad call...and the high five incident...
I can't wait to see these teams play against each other in the SEC tournament and the World Series!
Gonna be awesome!
Even though I'm a MN Gophers fan...I still cheer for Auburn too.. (don't tell my DDs :)

PS...Bailey Castro was in the house for one of the games! Wow she could smash a ball!

I have already stated that I thought she was out, and cannot believe that a 3B umpire would overturn the call of the HP umpire on that play from 70' away. I will let others weigh in after watching the video.

70' is a tough call. Tough to see from my living room if the ball was dislodged by the tag. If the ball was dislodged by the tag the blues got it right, right?

Could be that in hindsight, the HP blue thought he saw the ball loose after his call, he asked for help, and the 3B blue thought he saw the ball snowconed, the two got together and made the best call they could.

It is not a question of passing on a player. Rather it is if you run your program with integrity and hold your coaches and players accountable to compete within the letter and spirit of the rules. Let me put it this way, if Geno Auriemma was the Head Softball Coach at Florida, I seriously doubt we would be having these conversations.

You have a much better understanding of the college softball world than me. I can't imagine any D1 school passing on Barnhill with the mechanics she uses, if you say different I'll take your word for it.

HP umpire called her out and Tim Walton appealed to 3B umpire for help. Maybe there is more to the bobble than you can see from the camera angle, but I would be willing to bet $1 a replay official would not have overturned the call based on the camera angle from the replay I saw.

Barnhill is a very good student and to the best of my knowledge a good citizen, so I am sure there are tons of coaches who would love to have her. She pushes the envelope on illegal pitches, but until umpires start calling her on it she has no incentive to change.

Would love for someone to post a clip of the catch in question and let everyone watch it and judge for themselves. It looks like a good catch and tag to me, and the home plate umpire called the runner out, so the 3B umpire overturned the call from over 70' away. To overturn that call I think the ball needed to hit the ground or have an obvious bobble.

Completely agree and Auburn got screwed on that one. HPU was on top of it and was very determined in his call initially. TW asked for an appeal and it was immediately overturned by the guy "way out there". All that said, if you make the damn catch in the outfield at the end of the game you win the game. How did that poor girl drop that thing?? Really felt bad for her!

I think the SS booted one right before that error by 2B.
