What you need to remember with these D1 pitchers who are now pitching coaches is the intangibles they bring to the lesson. Knowledge of the game, pitching strategies, how do/did they prepare for the game, passion for pitching, ability to relate to a girl as a female, how to field their position, shared experiences when they were learning how to pitch, competitive fire, etc.

When I used to coach, I had a couple of former UCLA players run a two-hour practice and the girls absolutely loved it.

While proper pitching mechanics are #1, don't discount all of the other factors that elite athletes bring to the lesson.

I completely agree that the first-hand experience that former high-level players bring to the table is very valuable, and can be highly inspirational for young players. This reflects a lot on their quality as a teacher, and how well they can communicate their experiences, knowledge, and passion to their students. However, when these experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate teachers provide instruction that is flawed and doesn't match what they actually do/did, it can spoil the soup.

It would be nice to know what/how you teach. While you are here it would be a good idea to get BM JS RP and RB certified.

Well, I guess Hannah never came back to DFP. Too bad, I was so intrigued to learn about her second push. Maybe someday she will come back and explain.

I think that young lady pitcher in the light blue shirt at the beginning pitches pretty well, but once the instruction and breaking down the motions begin.... I really scratch my head. Maybe that gal in the light blue shirt should be allowed to explain accurately what she does when she pitches.

<youtube video mentioned above>

Certainly don't like the "Hop" drill. But what is the opnion on the "Bucket" drill? Looks like it could help with explosion off the rubber plus aid in creating better timing or upper/lower sync???

Funnily enough the not-Hannah demo-dummy in the green shirt on the youtube video is my DD. She has been working with the company the main speaker is from for the past few years and while it may not be explained 100% well in this video, they do teach what is very, very close to the techniques that we all love so much here at DFP. If they didn't - we wouldn't be there.

Do those who wondered what happened - Hannah ended up moving north and south in Florida shortly after she posted, then signed with USSSA Pride (looks like she is still there), played some and last time I saw her, was pretty involved in Gators Girls Camps (Gator Girls Softball Camps) which have been pretty good experiences for the attendees from what I have seen.
