Can Playing Up hurt College Chances?

In my last post I didn't mean for it to come across as 18u coaches were babysitting players. What the person told me was that the college coaches at 18u events were there babysitting their recruits and not really looking for new talent. Sorry for any confusion.

I think they were referring to my post more, where I said 18G coaches emphasize college recruiting over teaching. I still stand by my comment, although I know every team is different and has different standards. I've a bad taste in my mouth from dealing with several "top 5" organizations who's coaches are basically told not to instruct their kids on the field as it may make a bad impression to scouts overhearing the corrections. You'd think that the coaches would figure the scouts would know better, but then if you watched the defensive play in college ball the last few years, maybe they don't know better.
