I don't see it in the white uniform gif. If you do have a picture or video of his weight back like that, it is a mistake or balance issue on his part. What is really happening and what is taught, is for the weight on the rear leg to be on the complete instep of the rear foot, not just the big...

Anyone confused when I said he starts with the weight behind the back foot? Because I don't mean toward the catcher. The weight is behind the back foot toward the dugout.
Where to people get this stuff from...
I will say that I like this 'command drill', I think it has great use..... but be beware that all drills can create other bad habits if over done.
I often do what I believe people on here call the 'noontime drill'. This command drill just seems like a stricter version of that, as we all know...
Balance. The bottom kids head is about over his back foot. This will lower the BA.
There is no real weight shift with the bottom hitter either.
The top hitter, although lazy with the lower half, exhibits both balance and weight shift.
I haven't read every reply, but have seen some comments that were noteworthy. Things I feel can be improved
1. The lack of coil in the rear leg and hip has been mentioned many times
2. Tracking. She does not seem to be seeing the ball in
3. Drifting was mentioned earlier or lunging. When...
That's the only worth FFS has. He has never offered any help, he only offers 'that is wrong'. Your picture is a fine example of bat drag.... and dont hold your breathe that FFS will answer your question or provide a picture.
I'm not on here enough to know who is in who's camp, so I don't know who's camp this GIF is from.
I do know however..... the person who made this GIF of himself thinks he is doing a great job or he wouldn't of captured it, so kudos to the effort. But personally I find a few faults with it that...
In what little I can see...I don't see these the same. I see bat drag on the right, the elbows are working much differently, and most importantly there is a huge difference who is getting their power from the ground (without even seeing the whole picture).
I am on Team Rampage on this one. Her hands are fine, everything is fine..... TONS of front toss to all locations and see if we have any break downs in mechanics on being able to get to the inside of the ball.
A little Mike Trout! Don't change anything now (other than head). I would focus on her being able to hit ALL pitch locations, to ALL fields, from her current mechanics (squaring it up).
Note: Her attack angle is very flat to down a degree or two, this is why the low line drives and...
He does an amazing job on both swings. On the left he is about to be sawed in half (new lumber please), but is able to pull his hands in and through. The one on the right, he is fooled a bit, but keeps the barrel back (lag).
I agree with the poster about whipping to extension.
The hands, I believe, closer to the body will make them stronger, not necessarily faster (the strength part comes into play when the ball is not purely squared up). I believe in the two swings the bat traveling the furthest will be faster (have done test). Its a good trick when doing OnDeck...
