Suspended from next entire tournament for discipline. Too much?

yeah, being there, and knowing what happened first hand, I'd say "off the team" would definitely be a little harsh. There are lots of opinions from one range to the other. They still seem young to me. Not to let them off the hook easy, but at least a warning or one game sitting out. And if it...

Thank you all, I was almost going to say something, but you make valid points. I'll keep my mouth shut. Probably the best thing to move forward.

Suspended from next entire tournament for discipline. Too much?

I am an assistant coach on our 12U team. One of the very top girls on the team an 11 yo, made accusations towards a girl (12yo) who missed an easy catch and made a few other errors. In the dugout during the game, she told this girl SHE was the reason we were loosing the game. The older girl then...

Pitches like she's bowling. Help please.

And we also do the step back drill. Throwing a few pitches stepping back a few feet each time, then reverse and step forward back to the mound. She LOVES that drill for some reason. Another fun things we do to challenge her. She gets to count to 10 one for every strike, while I go through the...

Pitches like she's bowling. Help please.

Wow, thank you for the replies and suggestions. There is merit for each opinion. I'm glad someone said yardstick. I was thinking a board but that would be too much. Our first drill is about 15 feet away feet facing forward and locked together. Just arm movement for the pitch. 2nd drill, right...

Pitches like she's bowling. Help please.

Yes, she knows and wants but mechanical memory is resisting. She does fine on the first two drills but on pitching she must be trying to umph some speed by doing this. BTW she is 11 on 10U. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Pitches like she's bowling. Help please.

Just heading to state tournament tomorrow. So this is a fix that might not help until next year. My daughter is one of the most athletic girls and does amazing at any infield position. She decided she wanted to pitch this last January. Went from wild to 60% strikes since then. But her speed...

    Mental Help Pitching to Catcher

Try holding the glove out to the right and then left. Throw some pitches to the adult. Repeat with teammate. Continue 20 pitches each then back to the adult for 10 and then 10 to teammate. Until corrected. Of course mix a few up the middle every few pitches. Just a thought.

Mercedes first 3 teams in states 10u tournament

(mercied first 3 teams. Sorry spell check) Our girls have won all games so far by mercy. My biggest concern is that the final two games will bring more and more talent to the game. We need our girls to understand that if they are down by a few runs, not to feel defeated. They have never been...

Launch, project, contact and follow through

Just wondering if anyone can advise the psychology of getting young batters to swing. It finally dawned on me that the girls were merely waiting for their mind to tell them the pitch was good, then swing. This creates too many problems. Mostly swinging late or worse, not swinging at all. Very...

Is it OK to pitch our girls with our batters in pre-season and practices.

Wow, all good points to consider. I wouldn't advise it as much with a pro team because those players are not 10yo and need to learn the reflex of good pitch, bad pitch, watch a ball swing at a strike. The ONLY reason that I've considered this option is that in our league as well as travel, these...

Is it OK to pitch our girls with our batters in pre-season and practices.

Thanks. I think that aligns with my philosophy as well. Pitch as in real game bat as in real game. Coachtucc like your suggestion on 3rd strike. The one drawback is so much downtime for the waiting players. Maybe a few for fielding any hits and the rest could be running drills off field. I may...

Is it OK to pitch our girls with our batters in pre-season and practices.

My coaching partner and myself have taken this year off and will be back again next year. We are putting together a great coaching team and are excited for what we feel we can do with these talented girls. Both of our daughters are on the fastpitch travel as well as majors. 10yo. Neither of the...

Coach making it sound like he is on opposing team yelling plays. 10-12

But what I want to know is if there could actually be a "play" for his team at 3rd? I want to give him all the benefit of the doubt first. BUT, after taunting at the plate to try to get her to swing, the pattern seemed too coincidental. There were a LOT of steals from 1st to 2nd without runners...

Coach making it sound like he is on opposing team yelling plays. 10-12

Tell me if I'm nuts. Curious, this is for 10-12 Girls fastpitch Majors. A 10yo girl is up to bat with 3 and 2. The final pitch is coming in way way outside. The opposing coach yells, "There's your pitch" just before the ball was coming in. Of course our girl didn't swing and took the walk. I...
