Actually Read the Rules
Playing in a HS conf game under NFHS rules.
My only role in this matter was a very satisfied fan as both teams played a solid game and it came down to the last batter to decide!
Away coach calls time out. Calls over the batter and on deck batter. Home coach does not call time out but walks out to pitcher and talks with her and infield. Away coach finishes conversation and PU has to walk out and break up Home team conference. Should this have been counted as a first visit by the home team's coach?
During same inning away team is starting a comeback and has scored 3 times. Ball is hit to first-base where player has ball bounce off glove and up over her shoulder, ball then continues to right field. Home coach calls time out and checks out player for suspect injury. Very slowly evaluates and decides to pull player and place substitute on the field for first base. This time out did have the appearance of attempting to cool the rally in progress. Home coach then walks out to pitcher and has conference with her. Was this a second visit in the same inning?
Fans were not happy and calling out that this was a second visit and pitcher needs to be pulled. PU holds up 3 fingers at crowd, seemingly stating that home coach was entitled to 3 visits per inning.
Was this correctly handled?
Is a coach allowed to visit pitcher during opposing coaches timeout?
Did the home coach make two visits in the same inning?
