In my experience that's really normal in 10U. Seems pretty normal in 12U so far too. Both of the pitchers on our team tend to need an inning or at least a couple of batters to really get going. They're both really good, experienced pitchers. Once not too long ago in the first inning DD walked the bases loaded (I think one was a single actually). The next 3 were strike outs, no runs scored. Sometimes I wonder if she does this on purpose to get to play cat and mouse. No, not really. But it seems like it happens a good bit, walk a batter and give up a hit early on then settle in and get the outs.
