IMO my DD is reaching with her front foot in the video due to a very poor coil. When she's "right" the coil will create her stride and it be smoother and slower. She's rushing alot of things due to lack of stored energy.

I understand...my reference is to the open stance approach. Is that something she has always done or did ya'll move to it?

We moved her to a more open stance. It gives her a better look @ the pitcher and it's just something that felt right to her, just her particular style.
