What is the difference between USA Softball Class A versus Gold? Gold usually implies better but it seems like the Gold Nationals are not as prestigious/competitive as the Class A?

All of the Nationals have become diluted over the years. There is no longer one true National champion unless you count the US Clubrankings status. I just looked at last year's results for both Gold and A tourneys (16U/18U) The teams that were in the Gold tourney for the most part were from "named" or established organizations the A tourney not so much. Since the creation of the JO Cup the Gold Nationals is not as "prestigious" as before. Then of course you have PGF and TCS Nats.
