By the by...only an idiot catches a pitcher trying to throw a riseball without a mask. I'm dead serious...one of my friends got his cheek fractured trying to catch a rise.

That was me. Never used a bucket, always caught her kneeling on a pad. No mask and no pads. Got a few bruises over the years, but nothing bad. DD was throwing 65 in college.

If the pitch is effective in games continue to throw it, but hopefully the pitcher and her pitching coach continue to work on it if she wants to pitch at the next level. Bullet spin fastballs are BP in college unless they are really cooking (65+) or have pinpoint control complimented with a great change up.
