Hugo Named SEC Player of the Week

Alex Hugo and Cortni Emanuel each earned weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference, it was announced today. Hugo was named the SEC Player of the Week, while Emanuel earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors.

Hugo finished with a .529 batting average after finishing with nine hits, including two doubles, three triples and three home runs. She led the team with 16 RBI over six games. The Olathe, Kan., native finished second on the team with nine runs and also drew four walks. Additionally, she finished with eight extra-base hits and slugged 1.529 and posted an on-base percentage of .619.

Alex Hugo has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office. It is the first SEC weekly honor for Hugo and the second time this season that a Georgia player has been named the SEC Player of the Week.

Hugo led the No. 15/17 Georgia softball team to a 4-0 record last week, including a sweep of Mississippi State over the weekend. She went 7-fo-13 at the plate for a batting average of .538. She also led the team in hits (7), runs scored (6), RBI (7), home runs (3) and slugging percentage (1.308). She recorded a hit in each of the games over the weekend, including home runs in each of Georgia’s three games against Mississippi State. She also extended her streak of reaching base safely to 26 games.
