Howard refines his teaching just like every good hitting instructor. He has found other ways to teach it now...
Years ago he used to say turn the 3rd eye to the ball before release. That being your sternum. Look at bonds his sternum is facing the pitched ball before he release's the hammer.

I strongly disagree with teaching hitters to show their sternum to the pitcher before swinging.

I understand why people see that, but I think it's based on trying to find positions and teach positions vs. teaching movement.

Not here.
I get bashed for this but...
I teach to turn the corner some before you release. I have girls hitting the cra# out of the ball. Bonds does it. He has turned the corner and has not released the barrel to impact.
Since its election time...I approve this message

SL,
I won't 'bash' you for saying that..
I teach to turn the corner some before you release.
The hands/forearm turn the barrel behind the corner

then....
the barrel is released to/towards the ball.

No offence pstein. But you said you don't work with students.

I do. I hear it off the bat. They bring me homerun balls. I know for a fact that it works.
Howard has bushel baskets full of homerun balls. He recycles them now for lessons.

Bonds might be in a pass through position, but look how far his hips and body have turned and no release of the bat head yet. Please explain you thoughts on that.

Not trying to be mean bass, but if your dd did a walk up, when she separated out to toe touch and her hands where behind the back hip and did the elvis move, or turned the corner like I teach, then let the swing go, she would have a hips leading swing.
Turning the corner when I teach it is getting the lower half going first.
I say as soon as you feel the hips go, release the bat. It works.

This will be my last comment on this...teach it how you want

Well, not to be mean to you I was agreeing with you. I was agreeing with your words. I also provided gifs supporting your words.

Your problem may be your words may not support what you teach.

I agree with this also. Unless you want to post your DD doing the 'walk up drill/happy gilmore drill and we can compare.
like I said, I give lessons, I get feedback from return students.
And another thing you're a paid hitting instructor your opinion is no different than me as a dads opinion or pstein opinion as a student.

I PM'd you the facts RDB

Yeah, the FACTS are that only PAID hitting instructors seem to be allowed to post. Dads with DD's should just read all the PAID hitting instructors posts and be thankful that they are willing to share with us dads..
So, post away...I'll just read.....
