One of the goals with Haley and my other hitters is to get on plane early and run in to the ball. A commitment to TTB

I like on plane early. But early committal of the barrel isn’t efficient imo. The best seem to get on plane w their hands w the barrel out of plane until later in the process.

The hands are set before we TTB. I’m sorry if I poorly explained it

Never understood ‘on plane early w the barrel’. Think it’s another term taken literal or too far like ‘inside the ball’, which is just a direction cue. Or a ‘be direct’ cue.

These two tee swings seem similar but are not. One is releasing the barrel the other is directing the barrel via the knob. Crazy how AP tee a lot deeper tee but he hasn’t released the barrel yet. What does that say? I think that means shorter, right?

When you dont power the swing w shoulder rotation like Haley, the force applied is longer but less effort-filled bc of the shoulders are torqued w adjustable lag via the hands. Can release the barrel deep or out front.

When I say force applied early.. Watch when the hands start their launch against/before shoulder ‘rotation’.

Considered a pushy swing, I don’t think so.

Maybe you could explain your meaning of this? It’s obviously help AJ I’m definitely interested. He’s having a great year.

Just learning to make contact deeper in the zone. But before AJ had more holes bc of his ‘upswing’. His stroke is much more ‘level’ to the ball now.

Here's a video that helps explain why at least part of the reason AJ is having a successful year.

If your interested in HLP it's a good video that will help, if you not, then don't bother.

Thanks, this is a good video...

I like to look at Bo Bichette and Vladdy when thinking about HLP. Both young hitters, hit for power and avg to all fields, came up through the same org and roughly the same age. However IMO, In general I believe Bo follows the AJ template more than Vladdy. Bo does let the ball travel more, focusses on getting the barrel on plane very deep and early. Vladdy's bat path is more steep and generates a lot of back spin. Both are successful. but I don't think they do it exactly the same way. Also Vladdy has been hitting a ton of ground balls hard this year, just beating it into the ground. Maybe if he adjusted his barrel path we would see more balls in the alley and OTF
