DD's 12U team was set to play at this year's TCS World Series in Reno in July. Our parents where all aboard and coach sent in the check. We wanted to get a heads start so half our team families booked reservation at the Peppermill Resort and Casino. This is one of the lodging options made available through TCS. We unfortunately had some issues recently with a couple families who have now decided to pull out of Reno so coach had to cancel since we will not be able to field 9 with remaining players. For the 8 or so families who made a reservation and paid the deposit ($150-$200) depending on the room reserved; Peppermill Casino has refused to refund that deposit. I know of other teams who have recently withdrawn from TCS and they booked at Silver Legacy and Silver Legacy gave them back a full refund, no problem. I'm not bashing Peppermill, they clearly have a no-refund policy when you book and the 1st thing I remember thinking when coach informed us about the decision on Reno was "Ah crap, I just lost $150". Knowing what I know now, if I ever have to go to Reno for whatever reason; I'll make sure I don't reserve at Peppermill. So for those of you who might be on the fence about whether or not your team is going to Reno, you may want to consider another lodging option.

So Cal
Bummer on the refund.

Also a bummer you're not going to Reno. It would have been nice to share a beer or two with you.

Ouch lesson learned the hard way I guess, pretty unusual being over 30 days out but just a reminder to not do non refundable deposit (if at all possible) or at least find one with a 7 or 14 day clause something protecting you.

Did you pay with a credit card? If so you can dispute the charge.

I've been in this position with a hotel before. When they told me they were going to keep my deposit I just told them it was pointless because I would refute the charge and they would lose. They ended up not charging me. It's worth a try.
