Fairmont Girls Fastpitch Softball Association
The city is located in south central Minnesota next to Interstate 90.
Fairmont will host their 11th annual GFP softball tournament. The games will be held on Saturday, July 11 for 10u, 14u, & 18u girls’ fastpitch teams and Sunday, July 12 for 8u, 12u, & 16u teams. Every team is guaranteed to play 3 games for the one day.
The tournament will be a NAFA Northern Nationals “B” Qualifier, which will grant eligibility to the two top teams of each age divisional berths to participate in NAFA Nationals, if desired. This year NAFA Nationals 10u will play July 23-26 in Bloomington,MN; 12u will play July 16-19 in Eagan,MN; 14u will play July 23-26 in Eden Prairie, MN; 16u will play July 23-26 in Shoreview, MN; and 18u will play July 23-26 in Chaska, MN.
The tournament will follow ASA along with most of Southern Star League rules. Past years, the brackets have filled up quickly, thus register as soon as possible. However, coaches, please check with your players to make sure your team will have enough girls for the tournament. Last years tourney had over 60 teams from the 4 state area.
Deadline to register is Sunday, July 5. Planning to have the brackets ready no later than Monday, July 6. First, coaches will receive emails of their bracket and will be asking for confirmation. The tournament brackets will be published online.
The tournament will be held at the newly constructed diamonds at Cardinal Park & Winnebago Avenue Sports Complex, along with Hands Park if necessary. Trophies will be handed out to 1st & 2nd place winners. Medals will be handed out to 3rd place & consolation winners, depending upon the number of teams enrolled. Approximately, 50% of participating teams will have their girls come home with awards.
