Started out okay Friday with 2 warm games. DD finally started hitting the ball hard again. Only took one lesson and $45 to straighten out what was wrong.
First bracket game Saturday was against out biggest rivals. Naturally the whole team was sufficiently motivated for that game. DD's team was in control until the last inning when a few errors and timely hits let the opposing team close to within 2 runs before making the final out. Then we had a break of a few hours between games. In the past DD's team hasn't played well after long breaks between games during tournaments...Saturday was no exception. Ended up getting run ruled and losing 10-0. To make matters worse,DD fouled an inside pitch off the knuckles of her right hand during her second time at bat. She did stay in the game to finish her at bat and lined a hard single into center field. Afterwards we spent most of Saturday evening finding an urgent care center that didn't close before 5pm. Luckily it was just a contusion,no broken bones and she can play again in a week.
Sunday morning they lost 2-1 in a game that never really seemed like it was that close. DD watched from the dugout with a splint on her now very swollen hand.
Here's DD hitting the next pitch after hurting her hand...
