What team or org are you thinking about taking DD to and what age division
We're sticking. She was offered spots with a couple of bigger names but we did that last year and did not enjoy it. Our org isn't known for softball at all yet so the name wouldn't mean much but we're happy. We started with 10 girls and lost only one from fall (great kid, not so great dad; he's the reason). Pretty sure we have her replacement, plus one more to get us to 11. This is the kind of team that's losing 6 to 3, last inning, 2 outs, and comes back to win 9 to 6. So much heart. We aren't even tempted to go anywhere else.
Seems like everybody and their brother around here is looking for a pitcher at 14U right now. Is it like a "thing" for pitchers to reshuffle between fall and spring? Our team lost one and we need to pick up another one. Where did they all go?
Seems normal in 10U too. I keep seeing ads from coaches starting new 06 teams, and I'm thinking, good luck with that! There aren't a ton of 06 girls around here & of course only a small percentage of them are actual pitchers. In 10U there's one big name here that has 90% of the pitchers here right now (I exaggerate, a little). They lost their #1 to another big name then added like 4 to replace her, all good, in addition to the 3 they already had. They should have an interesting spring. I'm sure the parents who invest in pitching lessons and all the bucket time will be cool w/ splitting pitching 6 ways. I think that's why pitchers jump around more than some. They're also in demand more than most other positions, so it's easy to find a new team to go to where maybe the coach convinces you your DD will be better off (and sometimes, it's true). The only player we lost for spring was our #2 pitcher.
