Out of curiosity, what do you guys think a pitchers speed should be at certain ages. Let's say for arguements sake that accuracy and control are not the issue.
For example 10yrs old 40mph etc.

I've seen that b chart before and have no idea where they came up with that. I've seen the figures from many of the recruiting camps and the top speeds at those camps are generally 60-62. I think the a chart is more realistic personally.

The chart is accurate if you are using an accurate speed gun.

If Daddies are talking at the concession stand, add 10 MPH.

You believe chart B is pretty accurate?
Here are the Pennsbury recruiting camp results for 2008.
Lets for fun say most of those girls are 15-17. The top speed in the fastball columns was 63. The average was 56. It looks like less than 10% of the throws were over 60. Chart a looks more accurate to me than chart b.

Based on 7=8 years of looking at data from from NFCA camp data, The bolded portion is accurate and the values have been consistant.

I haven't noticed the very top pitchers showing up at NFCA camps. I don't suppose they need the exposure. Possibly even committed already. I'm thinking their average speeds would skew these results upward at the older age groups.
