Open HS tryouts for spectators?

DDs HS tryouts were closed, but it didn't matter, she didn't want us there anyway. In fact none of the players want their parents there during tryouts or practices. I guess we are lucky we even get to attend the games.

Why?

I enjoy watching anything softball whether it is practice or the rec kids playing at the field close to our house.

Our tryouts are closed for HS. Thankfully she drives now so I don't even have to deal with taking her and picking her up from practice.

It was always a great time with the guys, and entertaining to watch the freshman noob parents.

I am not sure how to express this, when your DD is on the Team it is easy to have fun and make bets. When DD does not make the Team because your DD has put in her dues and has been there, not so funny.

Why watch? I didn't trust anyone 100% around my DD. I can't remember watching her tryouts, per se. But, I was generally in the area.
It is MUCH worse now that GDD is 4yo. She ran into a park restroom by herself last week, with me telling her not to.

But, that isn't why you are asking. Close tryouts, if you want to. But, don't police the parking lot and make parents leave.

I vote for closed tryouts. Not to prevent 2nd guessing or complaints by parents, as you'll get parent feedback and complaints either way, but to keep the girls from being distracted and looking at mom/dad for advice/feedback.

Why would any parent want to watch the tryouts???
I've never done it and never will.

Not making the team

I really hate seeing the girls cry. After volleyball tryouts, there were a lot of tears because they can't take very many.
