For those of you wanting the dream of playing in college...better get in shape. DD started her off season conditioning Sunday night, got finished at 7:30 P.m. and had to be in the gym at 7 a.m. the next morning for Catcher/Pitcher training which ended up being a lot of sprints and burpees. That was it for Monday as she had 3 classes after. The next morning, in the gym again at 7 a.m. doing lots of sprints, push-ups etc for catcher/ pitcher and after a couple classes had to go to team weight training and agility- she said she hadn't recovered from the morning and struggled. (3 catcher practices a week plus 3 lifting days)
It's pretty common to see girls throwing up (heard that a lot from our friends at other schools too) -She said a lot of the girls said they can barely walk. DD's biggest issue is her asthma and the running but she said she won't use that as an excuse. Her roomie does great with the running but struggles with the lifting and hates it.
A friend of ours broke down in tears during training at her college (D1) because her shins hurt so bad from so much running and she said everything on her body hurt.
Another of her friends at a D3 has to get up at 5 a.m. for lifting but she said they only do that 3 times and thats all they do.
I'm just writing this so everyone knows that if you get want you want, that dream of playing in college- you better be prepared for some hell.
