No its forced because every swing is within the vertical plane.. Like Bonds said "anyone can hit the low pitch" Every pitch down in the zone will be more vertical. The key is to be adjustable for all pitches.

Bonds not forcing a barrel path.

You think that was Barry’s swing? Down out front?

Barry, and all the greats swung "down to" and yes inside pitches are more out front than others. Its why the contact rate was much better and 1/10th of the strikeouts. The vertical swings would probably whiff playing pepper as well. Pitch determines the plane and barrel path.

Maybe we should start bunting with a deep vertical bat path. Get to see the pitch that much longer :)
