My DD just played in a HS game where the opposing pitcher would step on the pitcher's plate and immediately go into her wind up without any kind of pause (as soon as the batter got set in the batter's box). I looked up the rule and I am wondering if this is an illegal pitch. I am posting the USSSA rule here, but I believe the HS rules are the same in this instance...
***Preliminary to pitching, the pitcher must take a position with the shoulders in line with first and third base with the ball in the glove or pitching hand, with the hands separated. While in this position, the pitcher shall take (or simulate taking) a signal from the catcher. ***
Did the opposing pitcher's action violate the taking or simulating the taking of the signal rule?
