When my girls played travel (currently in college), I was most interested in playing for the closest travel team to our house. We were fortunate to live in a high density area so there were plenty of teams. At the end of the day, your daughter owns her journey and interest in playing softball in college. The brand awareness of the travel team is important but your daughter's self-promotion skills and softball skills are most important as she garners interest from her desired schools.

However, I do empathize with those that have to drive extended times for practices. That has to be tough.

Team practice is 30 minutes away, pitching and hitting instructors are an hour away. Once they can resume play outside, DD's team has two fields that they can use. One is 40 minutes away and one is 15 minutes. They switch back and forth to accommodate families who are closer to one or the other.

About 45 minutes to both outdoor and indoor facilities. During the winter I was taking the kids up there at least 3 times a week to hit/field even when she didn't have practice. Growing up in MA I remember it was a huge deal to drive to Boston which was about 55 minutes away, now I do it 3 or 4 times a week and it seems like nothing :)
