My daughter's team is a month away from the season opener and practice is only scheduled 2 or 3 times a week. Is this normal?

We don't mess around here.... My daughter's high school team had try-outs last Wednesday and Thursday. Scrimmaged in a huge indoor facility late Friday night, practices Monday through Wednesday this week, head out Thursday to pay a Friday-Saturday tournament, and play a couple games on the way there. I think that's what you call getting to it.

5 days a week from 3:30-7pm for us, plus Saturday's that we aren't doing scrimmages. Saturday practice usually stops when pre-season is over and the league schedule starts, which is in a few weeks.

That's pretty much our schedule except 3:30-6. The HC is big on getting a lot of scrimmages in on Saturdays.

My DD's HS team practiced 5 days a week and most Saturdays. I am a big fan of "quality vs. quantity" and HS practice was all about quantity.

That's why it can take a couple of weeks to undo the one-game-at-a-time mentality players get from HS.

It has always amazed me that High Schools practice for upwards of 20 - 30 hours a week but at the end of the season the skills have declined and it takes 2 - 3 weeks in late April to early May to fix what got dorked up playing High School rec-ball.

We are fortunate to have three 18u A travel coaches and one is an assistant coach for a D3 School. The JV however is a completely different story.
