DD started at 10 with a 12" glove and still has a 12" glove at 17. She is a pitcher and has many balls come back to her, 12" is a perfect size and weight for her to be able to maneuver it quickly.

If I were you, I would get an 11.5" - 12" glove and not say a word about it. 12 1/2" is just too big for the little girls.

My DD is 14, is 5'-10" and weighs 140 lbs, and she uses a 12.5" glove. Bigger is not always better, especially for a middle infielder.

My 15, almost 16 YO DD uses a 12.5" glove for pitching and infield. I bought it when she started using a 12" ball. If your DD is using a 10" or 11" ball, a 12.5" glove is a bit overkill. Now, our first baseman who is still using a 10.5" glove, SHE needs a bigger glove lol.

10U DD is an Amazon. Many of her teammates stand under her chin. She recently turned 10 and almost played 12U. She used an 11 inch until the beginning of this year, when her older sis let her use her 12 inch (signed by Jennie Finch!) Her new glove will be a 12".

11.5" should be perfect for your DD until it doesn't fit her hand, which could be a while.

2.5 hour practices, three times a week sounds like a recipe for early burnout. I can see 1 to 1.5 hours for 8U, but anything more seems like way too much.

Hope it irons out for her.

My 8U DDs team practices twice a week for 2 hours. The 2 hours is not too long for them as no one is complaining or dragging at the end of practice. But I tend to agree that 3 times a week for 2.5 hours PLUS games on top of that seems like a bit much at that age.

My DD's 8U All-Star team practiced Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for 2 hours per day, and had tournaments on the weekends. This was tolerable for the 7 weeks of All-Star season, but some of the girls were starting to burn out over the last couple of weeks. There's always a few, however, that never seem to wear down no matter how hard they're pushed.
