Anyone else notice in the Georgia v Bama game, the GA runners on 2nd are almost two steps off the base before every pitch before the pitcher releases the ball.

How come it's rarely called? You have at least three umpires officiating these games. Everyone gets all worked up about a little leap by the pitchers but allowing the baserunners to get an illegal jump is the difference between safe on a steal and an out or a runner being safe at home plate on a base hit vs a close play and out at home.

What do you think?

It's funny you posted that because my wife just said the same thing about Alabama...definitely surprised they aren't calling it for either.

They actually called a Tennessee baserunner for leaving early in tonights game against the Gamecocks. First time I've seen it called this year.

IMO these top teams push the limits in every aspect of the game! If it isn't getting called illegal keep getting more...... Anyone see Florida vs LSU? Florida was virtually standing right on the plate, 5 hit batters in one inning! Crazy game....

Would be interesting if you had video review and allowed college coaches to challenge it, with a charged timeout if there was no violation. Wouldn't be that hard to set up video that shows ball release and base release simultaneously.

Good teams teach their players to push the envelope until the umpire calls them on it. A good base runner will watch the FU out of the corner of their eye to see if they are paying attention. If they are watching the batter they push the envelope even further.
