Are there some good stories out there of "quirky" things that happen in games?
DD's team played in a big tournament this past weekend. Across the first few games here's her hitting experience for her first 9 plate appearances:
PA 1: HPB (in the head) on the first pitch
PA 2: HPB (in the head) on the first pitch
PA 3: BB on four straight pitches
PA 4: BB on four straight
PA 5: HPB (in the head) on a 2-0 count
(13 pitches so far, no strikes, and on base 5 times)
Next four PA's she had a ground out, reached on an error, a successful sac bunt, and another HPB, this time above the ankle. So 0-1, on base seven times and scored 4 runs, in her first nine trips to the plate. I think I'll tell her she doesn't need that new bat after all!
BTW this was the Mighty Casey (14u) in Rock Hill, not a local rec thing where you expect a fair share of poor pitching. Just one of those weird streaks. Thankfully no injuries, so it became a source of relative amusement, watching her get more frustrated at not really getting pitches to hit. When she did get her first "hit," it was a soft liner to center, but our runner on first got a bad read on it, and ended up being forced at 2nd, so DD's "hit" was officially a fielder's choice. She wanted to know if there was a way to give the runner an error!
