I still want to know what kind of spin 'finger pressure' puts on the ball.
first one also takes thumb pressure off at release,
For me finger pressure does not put additional spin on the ball, but it can influence spin direction/axis. Remove thumb pressure can not only influence spin direction, but it can increase ball spin.I still want to know what kind of spin 'finger pressure' puts on the ball.
It’s the amount and timing of the thumb pressure removal that makes the differenceHow do you release a ball without removing thumb pressure?
What I'm asking is how does it change the spin direction/axis, or what is the spin direction of the ball when finger pressure is applied? For me the first thing I look for when evaluating a spin pitch is the spin direction. It's not a curveball, regardless of how you grip it and throw it, unless it spins like a curveball should. So what kind of spin should I be looking for with a 'finger pressure' fastball? For me finger pressure does not put additional spin on the ball, but it can influence spin direction/axis.
