It seems to be getting worse and is causing her pitches to sail cause it aides in her glove arm to fly open (helicopter style). She's 5'7 and is 13 yo so she's still growing a bit. She pitched in front of U of Houston's hc last week and it was the first thing she noticed. Our pitching coach has been staying on her about it too. They both said she just needs to get stronger in her core which would probably alleviate this somewhat. Has anybody's else's daughter dealt with this? Suggestions please if so.....

She needs tangible feedback. If it's causing her glove to fly open, have her pitch standing with her glove side very close to a wall (like a few inches away), a straight fence, or a straight net—one that extends all the way down to the catcher. She will hit her glove on the wall if she lets her glove side fly out. After that she can pitch with her pitching arm up against the wall. You pretty much have to have perfect mechanics to deliver the ball without it hitting the wall. Make sure whoever is catching is in full gear because there will be ricochets.

Other than that, I'd need to see pics. There are several weaknesses that could cause back arching. Core is only one of them.
