My DD is on a 1st year 14u team, eight of the girls have played together for the last 4 years through Little League and TB. The parents coach's have come to realize after a couple of tourments that they have tapped out there coaching knowledge and are looking for a outside help, what is the going rate for coach to come in and run a team? running both pratices and tourments, with one of the parent coaches staying on as asstant coach. BTW love this board and the great insights and laughs it provides.

We have had college players come and coach 10 per hour plus expenses. We figured about 200 per week or 2k for a 10 week season. Divide that by 12 and your around 200 per kid with expenses.

Find a former college player to coach the team. The cost can be anywhere from $1000 to $4000 depending on what you're doing. If you're looking for someone to come in and turn the team into an ultra competitive team in a few weeks you've erred in your judgement. If you bring a coach in during August tryouts and they work with a team all during the off season then the team will have the best chance it can to succeed.

I do not recommend a current college player solely because they are busy with their own season till the end of May usually. They simply can't be there. You need someone to be there with the team as much as possible.
