Hello all I have a very confusing deal going on with my DD's pitching coach right now and I'm looking for some help. She has been in pitching lessons for 13 months and she is 9 years old turning 10 in a couple of months. She has progressed nicely over time and having fun doing it. We recently switched pitching coaches due to scheduling conflicts with my DD's team practice and her PC's schedule. The issue now is the new coach is telling us she wants to abandon my DD's fastball and start focusing on a peel drop. Her reasoning is that she says my DD struggles with her snap and spin and a peel drop will be more of a natural release for her and therefore not struggle on location. She is also asking us to slow down and retrain her mechanics. From everything I have read on this website slowing down is not a good thing and not recommended. I'm also not sure about the dropping of her fastball either? My DD does have inconsistent location and spin, but she is still learning also. She is asking us to trust her that it will pay off in the long run for my DD. We are confused and not sure how to proceed with this one. My DD has worked real hard at becoming a pitcher and she is feeling very confused right now with this potential change. Would really like to get all your guys feedback on this and really appreciate your time and opinions!
